Gunns Triabunna sale hits hurdle

Company News

The sale of Gunns Ltd (ASX:GNS) Triabunna woodchip mill in Tasmania has hit a hurdle due to a disagreement over state government financing.

The timber company said in June it had inked a deal to sell Triabunna to local company, Fibre Plus Tasmania, by July 29.

However, a Fibre Plus spokesman has told Fairfax that the sale, understood to be for around $10 million, was still not complete.

According to the report the sale has been delayed due to doubt over Fibre Plus's financing capacity and opposition from the Greens to approve government funding.

In the six months to 31 December 2010 Gunns booked a net loss of $4.7 million.
