Canada's largest grain handler Viterra Inc (ASX:VTA) has purchased an American processor and seller of legume crops, called Premier Pulses International Inc.
While the terms of the sale have not been revealed Viterra says the deal was signed last week and closed today.
Viterra says the acquisition aligns with its pulse merchandising growth strategy, driven by strong global demand for the crops.
The purchase of Premier Pulses includes a single site facility in North Dakota and a marketing office in Idaho.
In the year to 31 October 2010, Viterra posted a net profit of $145.3 million.
