Telstra rides the cloud

Company News

Telstra (ASX:TLS) says it will invest $800 million over the next 5 years into its cloud computing services.

The move is a response to growing corporate demand.

Chief executive David Thodey says they’ll spend money on building a new data centre and an online account management portal.

The telco says the use of its infrastructure cloud has grown by nearly 50 per cent this year.

For the period to the end of December 2010, Telstra reported a net profit of $1.2 billion.
