Amcor price fixing battle

Company News

Amcor Limited (ASX:AMC) has been facing the Victorian Supreme Court this week, fighting a claim against a group of former executives.

The Court heard that the packaging giant paid an executive $1 million after he threatened to blow the whistle on an illegal price-fixing ring with Visy.

News Ltd reports that Peter Brown, the former managing director of Amcor Australasia, told the court yesterday that as head of the company from 1997 to 2003, he had been under constant pressure to raise the prices charged to customers, and had assured managerial staff that the price-fixing scam had been approved by the chief executive.

Amcor Limited (ASX:AMC) reported a net profit of $236 million in the second half of last year.
