Gindalbie awards $185M contract for Karara

Gindalbie Metals Ltd (ASX:GBG) has awarded civil and mining contractor Brierty Ltd (ASX:BYL) a $185 million contract for work at Gindalbie’s $2 billion Karara Iron Ore Project in Western Australia.

Brierty will deliver direct shipping iron ore mining services operations and train loading activities over the next four years.

The contract awarded comes as Gindalbie progresses towards full-scare production at Karara in 2012, following the first iron ore shipment from the project in March 2011.

Gindalbie has also advised that it is in advanced stages of negotiations regarding a major contract for the main magnetite mining operations.

In the first six months of the 2011 financial year Gindalbie Metals reported a profit of $313,000.
