Asciano strike called off

Company News

The Asciano Ltd (ASX:AIO) strike has been called off according to a report by The Australian.

The Maritime Union of Australia called off the strikes at the Asciano-owned container terminals in Sydney, Brisbane and Fremantle.

Yesterday Asciano advised the market a week of strikes would cut full year earnings by up to $4 million.

It’s likely shares will rise today on the news.

Asciano’s first half profit grew by 18.7 per cent to $93.9 million in the six months to 31 December 2010.
