China’s Yanzhou Coal Mining said it has not decided if it will make an offer for Whitehaven Coal Ltd
(ASX:WHC).
This latest announcement contradicts previous statements from Whitehaven. Last month Whitehaven said Yanzhou was on its shortlist of bidders.
The US$3.6 billion auction is in its final stages. The recent comments add to doubts about how the process is being conducted.
For the half year ended 31 December 2010, Whitehaven posted a net loss of $35 million.
