MACQUARIE Group Ltd (ASX:MQG) has named the former head of global equities at Cantor Fitzgerald as their senior managing director and head of Macquarie Securities in the US.

The appointment of Ken Savio will see the group’s growth in the Americas continue, bringing the employment numbers in the US to about 2,600 of its 15,500 global employees.

Meanwhile, REDFLEX Holdings, which makes red-light and speed infringement cameras, today announced that a consortium of Carlyle Group and Macquarie Group has increased its takeover offer to about $303.5 million.

The announcements come just a few weeks after Macquarie Group reported a 9 per cent fall in its net profit for the year end to March 31.

In the six months to March 31, 2011, Macquarie Group posted a net profit of $989 million.
