Qantas passenger numbers up

Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) has reported a jump in passenger numbers for March by 4.8 per cent.

The company today announced that operating numbers for the month were adversely impacted by the earthquakes in Christchurch and Japan.

Meanwhile, figures for the year to March for all of the company’s domestic carriers, including Jetstar and QantasLink, were up 0.7 per cent compared with the previous year.

Frequent Flyers haven’t been missing out either, with 8.8 per cent more awards redeemed over the year. New  Frequent Flyer membership number sit at more than 500,000 since June 2010.

For the half year ended on 31 December 2010 Qantas reported a net profit of $239 million.
