Woodside reports low production

Company News

Woodside Petroleum Ltd (ASX:WPL) has reported a 12 per cent production level drop for the March quarter.

Production was also down 19 per cent from the first quarter of 2010 for the gas and oil producer, and sales were 14 per cent lower than the December quarter.

The company says tropical cyclone activity, as well as a planned maintenance outage at its Vincent Plant, contributed to the figure drop.

The figures come just three weeks after Woodside’s $30 billion Browse liquefied natural gas development was the subject of criticism over fears it will damage the environment.

In the 2010 financial year, Woodside Petroleum generated a net profit of $1.5 billion.
