Fortescue HK listing speculation mounts

Company News

A Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (ASX:FMG) senior executive has confirmed that the iron ore miner is eyeing a Hong Kong listing.

Executive director Russell Scrimshaw has told Reuters that Fortescue is looking to list some of its other assets in Hong Kong, such as magnetite.

Mr Scrimshaw also reportedly said that a dual listing of the company is another option that Fortescue could explore.

The comments come just one week after Fortescue’s founder and CEO Andrew Forrest claimed the company will “look at all the options” for a potential listing, and, reportedly met with officials from the Hong Kong exchange to discuss the prospect.

Fortescue Metals generated a $309 million net profit in the first half of the 2011 financial year.
