Jetstar, the budget subsidiary of Qantas Airways
(ASX:QAN) has taken another step to establishing its base in Asia. Its first Singapore to Auckland flight has taken off.
The daily service is the second long-haul destination serviced from Singapore. It follows flights from Melbourne that started last year.
The move to base Australian registered aircraft and crew in Singapore has been criticised by the Australian and International Pilots Association.
For the half year ended 31 December 2010, Qantas reported a net profit of $239 million.
