Super Retail Group H1 profit jumps 60%

Super Retail Group Ltd (ASX:SUL), who recently changed its name from Super Cheap Auto Group, has reported a 60 per cent jump in half year earnings, delivering a net profit of $24.9 million.    

In the same period the auto, cycling and leisure retailer says revenue was up 21 per cent to $562 million.  

Managing director Peter Birtles says the second half has started well for the group, with strong sales growth and continued momentum.

In the first seven weeks of the second half like for like sales growth has been around four per cent in both the companies Supercheap Auto and BCF Boating Camping Fishing businesses.

Looking ahead Super Retail Group says it is on track to improve its margins over the full year.

An interim dividend of 11.5 cents has been declared. 

In the 2010 financial year, Super Retail Group reported a net profit of $38 million.
