Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX:TLS) is growing its Australian presence with plans to open another 100 retail stores in addition to the 300 already open across the country.
CEO David Thodey has outlined the initiative that will be rolled out over the next three years.
In addition Australia’s largest telecommunications company has also detailed plans to create a new online customer service unit as part of a focus on expanding its customer base.
Mr Thodey says the new online unit will give customers the option of faster and convenient ways of interacting with the Telstra, including through social media.
Telstra has its sights set on securing 35 per cent of transactions through online self-service channels by 2013.
In its first half of the 2011 financial year, Telstra’s profit slipped 36 per cent to $1.2 billion.
