Virgin Blue increases fuel surcharge

Virgin Blue Holdings (ASX:VBA) will increase fuel surcharges to the United States and increase baggage charges.

From March 9, flights to the US will increase by $30 to $115 one way.

Baggage charges are set to increase on all routes, with baggage fees paid at the airport doubling to $40.

Virgin Blue said the changes were being made in response to current high global fuel prices.

Virgin Blue generated a net profit of $21.3 million in the 2010 financial year.
