Roots Sustainable Agricultural technologies (ASX:ROO) has announced a world first pilot, combining its Root Zone Temperature Optimization (RTZO) with technology developed by Teshuva Agricultural Projects (TAP) to cool the temperature of (NFT) hydroponic lettuce in Israel.

The two technologies resulted in robust lettuce growth and a 20 per shorter growth cycle compared to traditional plantings where no nutrient temperature control is used.

The successful operation between the companies shows the ability of the technology to allow farmers to stabilize nutrient temperatures to increase yields and profits through efficient crop management even in extreme Summer weather conditions.

Roots CEO, Dr Sharon Devir said it’s a major breakthrough in greenhouse crop control that no other commercial company is offering.

Shares in Roots Sustainable Agricultural technologies (ASX:ROO) are trading 3.17 per cent higher to 33c.
