Rio Chairman addresses fraud and bribery allegations

Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) Chairman Simon Thompson has addressed allegations of accounting fraud and bribery.

Thompson said the company’s reputation has been called into question by allegations of accounting fraud relating to former assets in Mozambique and bribery in Guinea.

But, he has denied the allegations, and said Rio would fight the matter in court.

Thompson was speaking at the company’s AGM in Melbourne today.

Shares in Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) are trading 0.29 per cent higher to $79.93.
