Metro mining (ASX:MMI) has flown non-essential staff and contractors out of the Bauxite Hills mine as a precautionary measure due to the arrival of Tropical cyclone Nora.

The bureau of meteorology has advised that the cyclone has developed in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

The mine is within range of the possible cyclone path.

This move may delay start-up mining operations by up to one week. However the 2018 production target currently remains unchanged.

Shares in Metro mining (ASX:MMI) are trading 5.26 per cent lower to $0.27
