The Commonwealth Bank (ASX:CBA) has announced the appointment of Anne Templeman-Jones as an independent non-executive director.

Ms Templeman- Jones currently serves on the boards of HT&E , WorleyParsons, GUD holdings and Citadel Group. She has also been Chairman of CBA’s financial advice companies since 2015.

The appointment comes as two current directors, Mr Andrew Mohl and Mr Brian Long plan to retire following the 2018 AGM.

CBA says the new appointment will bring the board a breadth of risk management and financial services expertise.

News of the appointment comes after CBA lost it’s attempt to have its secret, commercially sensitive information kept from the public in its evidence given to the banking royal commission.

The royal commission will resume its public hearings in Melbourne on the 13th of March.

Shares in CBA (ASX:CBA) closed  0.43 per cent lower to $75.73 on Friday.
