Commonwealth Bank (ASX:CBA) has appointed Matt Comyn as the bank’s new Chief Executive Officer.
The position is effective from 9 April 2018.
The appointment comes after Ian Narev announced he would retire from the CEO position before the end of the financial year after more than six years in the role.
Matt Comyn has nearly 20 years of experience in banking across business, institutional, retail and wealth management.
He joined Commonwealth Bank in 1999 where he has held a number of leadership roles, and was appointed Group Executive Retail Banking Services in 2012.
Shares in Commonwealth Bank (ASX:CBA) closed flat on Thursday at $78.65.
