ASX’s capital increases 89 per cent for December

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASX) (ASX:ASX) raised a total of $12.3 billion in December 2017, up 89 per cent on the previous corresponding period (pcp).

Capital raised in the 2017 calendar year totalled $64 billion, compared to $60.9 billion in 2016.

In the 2017 calendar year, 143 new entity listings were added, compared to 133 in the 2016 calendar year.

The average daily number of trades was 8 per cent higher for the month of December 2017 compared to the same time last year, and for the year this increased by 10 per cent compared to 2016.

However, the average daily value traded on-market decreased by 5 per cent for December, and dropped 1 per cent overall for the year.

Shares in ASX (ASX:ASX) closed 0.72 per cent higher yesterday to $54.50..
