Downer awarded $312m OZ Minerals contract

Engineering management services company Downer (ASX:DOW) along with its joint venture partner Ausenco has been awarded an OZ Minerals contract worth $312 million.

The contract is for the engineering, procurement and construction work at the Carrapateena copper gold mine project based in South Australia.

The initial works are valued at $100 million.

Construction is scheduled to commence at the end of the first quarter of the 2018 financial year.

Downer Chief executive Officer Grant Fenn said Downer is proud to be selected with Ausenco to deliver this important project which will play a critical role in boosting the existing and future copper export capacity for OZ Minerals and South Australia.

Shares in Downer (ASX:DOW) are trading 0.07 per cent higher to $6.71.
