Telstra appoints new senior management

Telstra Ltd (ASX:TLS) has appointed IBM executive Brendon Riley as its new chief operations officer, replacing Michael Rocca who will step down after 43 years with Australia’s largest telecommunications company.

Telstra has also announced the appointment of former St George Bank managing director Paul Fegan who will head a new corporate strategy division.

Mr Fegan has been appointed group managing director of strategy & corporate services, bringing together strategic and key corporate functions.

CEO and managing director, David Thodey says the new appointments will lead functions that are fundamental to the company's future success.

Mr Thodey also advises that in his remaining months with Telstra Mr Rocca will assist the telco with its massive recovery process as Telstra works to restore networks damaged by recent floods.

In the year to 30 June 2010, Telstra generated a net profit of $3.9 billion.
