Genex Power (ASX:GNX) has announced it has achieved the energisation milestone of Stage 1 of the Kidston solar project, which enables commercial operations to continue.

The energisation stage is a critical testing phase in a large-scale energy project before electricity can be exported into the national electricity market.

The renewable energy company also reports it has achieved registration as a market generator by the Australian Energy Market Operator, which completes all technical and regulatory processes to enable the export of electricity to the market.

Genex Managing Director Michael Addison said the smooth development of the project to date is a reflection of the significant dedication and effort by the project delivery team.

He added that with all the necessary approvals in place, Genex is now able to complete the final steps to enable the dispatch of electricity to the market, with development remaining on time and on budget.

Shares in Genex Power (ASX:GNX) are trading flat at 34 cents.
