Kathmandu forecasts HY profit rise

Kathmandu Holdings Ltd (ASX:KMD) has forecast profit to significantly rise in the six months to 31 January 2011, on the back of a strong performance over the Christmas trading period.

The travel and adventure clothing retailer says some same store sales will increase by up to 10.3 per cent, delivering earnings before interest and tax of as much as $15.1 million.

Kathmandu says group sales will be in the range of between $96 million to $97.4 million, as much as 18.2 per cent over the previous corresponding period.

CEO Peter Halkett says ultimately the company’s overall full year result will remain dependent on second half year trading, when Kathmandu gains around 60 per cent of its full year sales.

In the year to 31 July 2010, Kathmandu Holdings reported a net profit of $7.5 million.
