Seven West Media (ASX:SWM) has partnered with crowd-sourced technology and media company Newzulu (ASX:NWZ) to build a new app for user-generated content of Channel 7’s “Summer of Sport” season which attracts millions of viewers.
Seven’s broad media scope will enable the app to reach viewers of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, the Australian Open, the Winter Olympics and the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, which Seven has broadcast rights to.
The Newzulu-powered app will be free and Channel 7 branded, enabling the network to broadcast content to its audiences from across its platforms.
Seven’s Chief Digital Officer said the app will enable Seven’s audience to share their experiences while watching the free sporting events.
The app will be promoted through the “Summer of Sport” series on Channel 7, starting with the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race on 26 December 2017.
Shares in Seven West Media (ASX:SWM) are trading 0.82 per cent lower to 60 cents.
