Qantas Airways Ltd
(ASX:QAN) says will seek approval from competition watchdogs for a joint-venture with American Airlines on trans-Pacific services as it prepares to launch flights to Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.
The airline also plans to dump direct services to San Francisco. Qantas says it plans to start flying four times a week to North Texas from May using a three-class Boeing 747.
Qantas’ chief executive Alan Joyce expects Dallas to deliver a high component of business passengers.
For the year ended 30 June 2010, Qantas reported a net profit of $116 million.
