The dairy processing company, Synlait Milk (ASX:SM1) has had its best practice farming program become an audit approved management system.

The program is the first independent program in the New Zealand agricultural industry to achieve such an accolade.

The ‘Lead with Pride’ program that’s been run by Synlait for five years, ensures milk suppliers meet milk quality, animal health and welfare and social responsibility requirements.

With NZ regional council’s tick of approval in its systems, its farms are less likely to face additional compliance inspections.

Synlait has rolled out the program to 50 milk suppliers and expects the number to grow to over 30 per cent of its supply base by end of FY18.

Shares in Synlait Milk (ASX:SM1) closed about 1.9 per cent higher to $7.17.
