Machine learning, face and object detection company BrainChip (ASX:BRN) has been selected to provide video surveillance and video analytics for a large-scale European project.

BrainChip says the project has a potential value of more than US$1.2 million.

Not naming the client, the company says its software will be used at 11 different sites, towns and cities in France in the fourth quarter of this year and the first quarter of next year, with further deployments to follow in later 2018.

The technology will be used on selected cameras to protect high-value areas, including hospitals, schools and first responder sites.

The company says the deployment of its technology is expected to become standard in other municipal areas.

Shares in BrainChip (ASX:BRN) closed over 6.4 per cent higher yesterday to $0.17.
