CSR to return $800M to shareholders

CSR Ltd (ASX:CSR) has announced that it will return $800 million to shareholders, having completed the sale of Sucrogen and its Asian business.

It will be given back via a fully franked special dividend of just under $140 million, that is approximately 9 cents a share, and a proposed capital return of $661 million, subject to shareholder approval.

The special dividend will be paid in early February.

CSR also intends to consolidate its shares in a ratio of one share for every three currently held.

For the half year ended 30 September 2010, CSR reported a net profit of $74 million.
