Operations at South32’s Appin colliery remain suspended

South32 Limited (ASX:S32) has advised underground operations at its Appin colliery in New South Wales remain suspended. The colliery forms part of its Illawarra Metallurgical Coal operation.

The resources company says a review of the operation’s systems and practices is currently being undertaken, to ensure ongoing safety and reliability.

The company says given the scope of the review, an extended outage is now anticipated before production at Illawarra Metallurgical Coal can be restored to historic levels.

South32 says its Dendrobium coal mine in New South Wales, continues to operate.

Shares in South32 Limited (ASX:S32) closed 0.36 per cent higher to $2.81.
