Fortescue Metals Group Ltd
(ASX:FMG) has appointed Neville Power as its new chief operating officer.
Mr Power was previously chief executive of Australian operations at mining and construction company Thiess.
He has also worked with Smorgon Steel and MIM Holdings. Fortescue’s chief executive Andrew Forrest says Mr Power has the skills needed to deliver the company’s mining and expansion projects.
Mr Power’s appointment is effective mid to late February and he will report directly to Mr Forrest.
For the year ended 30 June 2010, Fortescue reported a net profit of $682 million.
