Meridian Energy announces new CEO

Meridan Energy Limited (ASX:MEZ) has announced Mr Neal Barclay has been appointed its Chief Executive Officer, replacing Mark Binnis who is retiring at the end of the year.

The electricity developer and retailer says Mr Barclay has been with the company since 2008, where he moved from Telecom NZ to be company CFO.

Meridan Energy says Mr Barclay held the CFO position for 15 months, before taking up the role of General Manager of Markets and Production, until last year when he was appointed General Manager of Retail.

The company says Mr Barclay has a breadth of experience in New Zealand’s electricity industry, and across all of Meridian’s main activities.

Shares in Meridan Energy Limited (ASX:MEZ) closed 1.08 per cent lower to $2.75.
