Bega Cheese Limited (ASX:BGA) has strengthened its opening milk price.

It comes as the dairy food company announced its Victorian milk supply’s opening price is $5.50 per kilogram of milk solids.

That is a 10 per cent price rise on last year’s opening price and reflects global market improvements in the diary sector.

The company says it was also important to deliver a positive price signal to their farmers after the industry experienced a tumultuous period.

Shares in Bega Cheese Limited (ASX:BGA) are trading 0.17 per cent higher to $5.76.
