ACCC to take nib to Federal Court

Company News

nib Holdings Limited (ASX:NHF) has been advised by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) that it intends take the company to the Federal Court, regarding its alleged failure to communicate with customers.

The ACCC says nib allegedly failed to communicate with its Australian resident health fund customers in August 2015, about the limited changes to its MediGap Scheme.

MediGap allows doctors and other-in-hospital medical providers, to elect to receive a higher fee reimbursement, subject to there being no “out of pocket” expense for the patient.

nib says it rejects ACCC’s views as it acted lawfully and ethically. However, the health insurer has taken steps to redress many of ACCC’s concerns.

Shares in NIB Holdings Limited (ASX:NHF) are trading 5.01% lower to $5.12.
