Wesfarmers Limited (ASX:WES) has announced its coal production for the quarter ending 31 March 2017 has fallen 1.5% from the prior period.

As part of its quarterly update, the Australian conglomerate says its production and sales volumes for the quarter ending 30 June 2017 will be adversely impacted by Cyclone Debbie.

As a result, Wesfarmers says its exported metallurgical coal sales volumes for the 2017 financial year will be at the lower end of its production range, of between 8 and 8.5 million tonnes.

The company also announced that there was no significant exploration or significant developments in the March quarter (for its Curragh operation).

However, when it came to its retail sales, Coles saw a 1.2% increase in headline Food and Liquor sales for the third quarter of 2017, compared to the prior corresponding period.

Shares in Wesfarmers Limited (ASX:WES) traded 0.43% higher yesterday to $43.94.
