Respiratory technology company Rhinomed (ASX:RNO) is expanding its North American retail distribution footprint.

Its sleeping technology, called Mute, will be sold at 811 GNC Holdings health, wellness and performance stores. GNC has over 9,000 stores in the world – with 6,700 of them in the US.

As for Mute, it’s a small device which is inserted inside the nose and, according to Rhinomed, reduces the volume and frequency of snoring in 75% of users.

Rhinomed’s product will also be rolled out as part of a trial in GNC corporate stores – including over 140 stores on military bases.

If the company achieves solid sales results, it expects a staged national roll-out for its Mute device. Rhinomed expects the US sleep aids market to reach US$831 million by 2021.

This morning, Rhinomed shares are trading steady at 1.7 cents.
