Woolworths buys domain name from Bunnings

Company News

Woolworths Ltd (ASX:WOW) has moved into the hardware space by acquiring the domain name hardware.com.au from rival company Bunnings for over $33,000.

Woolworths has no plans to sell hardware online when it launches its big-box store next year.

The company plans to use hardware.com.au to direct customers to the hardware stores, which are a joint-venture with US home improvement retailer Lowe’s.

For the year ended 27 June 2010, Woolworths reported a net profit of $2.03 billion.
