Qantas seeks compensation from Rolls Royce

Company News

Qantas Airways Ltd (ASX:QAN) has begun talks with Rolls Royce over the recovery of financial and operational losses relating to the failure of an engine on one of its A380’s, paving the way for legal action.

The airliner has filed a statement of claim and has been granted an injunction by the Federal Court of Australia, allowing the company to pursue legal action against Rolls Royce in Australia if a commercial settlement isn’t possible.

For the year ended 30 June 2010, Qantas reported a net profit of $116 million.
