NAB receives 5,000 complaints

Company News

National Australia Bank Ltd (ASX:NAB) has allegedly received 5,000 complaints in what The Australian calls the country’s worst IT bungle.

Last week a corrupt computer file left thousands of NAB’s customers with unprocessed payments and wages, with the bank still working to rectify the problem.

The Australian says that NAB has denied claims that the glitch was the result of sabotage by a disgruntled employee, following NAB’s decision to block a pay rise for its technology specialists in November.

NAB is reportedly now looking to outsource its mainframe computer processing to computing company IBM.

NAB booked a net profit of $4.2 billion in the 2010 fiscal year.
