Transurban Group improves Q3 profit

Company News

Transurban Group (ASX:TCL) has reported a 14.8 per cent increase in toll revenue to $218 million for the September quarter.

The toll road operator says all of its seven assets recorded positive traffic and revenue growth in the period.

Double digit growth was posted for three of these toll roads, CityLink, M1 Eastern Distributor and Westlink M7.

Transurban says the growth achieved for CityLink reflects the initial benefits from the end of construction and the extra capacity of the M1 upgrade.

The group expects to see the continued gains reflected in the December quarter traffic results with the opening of the fourth inbound lane of Southern Link this month, and a full quarter of the third inbound lane into the Burnley Tunnel that began operating in August.

Transurban Group moved from a loss last year to record a profit of $59.6 million in fiscal 2010.
