Ausdrill extends Fortescue contract for $98M

Mining services provider Ausdrill Ltd (ASX:ASL) has scored a $98 million contract extension from Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (ASX:FMG).

The three year extension is for work at two of Fortescue’s iron ore mines in Western Australia, Christmas Creek and Cloudbreak Mines.

Ausdrill says it will continue to deploy eight grade control drills as well as support equipment to meet the ongoing needs of the operations in the Pilbara region.

Ausdrill has been operating at the mines since September 2008 and says it is pleased to continue its association with Fortescue.

Ausdrill booked a $48.18 million profit in the 2010 financial year.
