Macquarie Atlas Roads reports H1 loss

Macquarie Atlas Roads Ltd (ASX:MQA) has reported a loss of $141.2 million for the half year to 30 June, but expects growth ahead.

The toll road operator says the first six months have seen increases in traffic, revenue and EBITDA, despite tough winter conditions in the northern hemisphere.

For the period traffic increased 2.5 per cent compared to the same time last year.

Revenue increased 4.5 per cent to $381.8 million, while EBITDA rose 4.2 per cent to $271 million for the period.

CEO Peter Trent says the company expects portfolio revenue will continue to grow because of improving traffic trends and, the positive impact of new tolling structures.

Mr Trent advises the company currently has a cash position of around $31 million and expects to remain operating cash flow positive.
