Qantas reshuffles Jetstar for Asia

Qantas Airways Ltd (ASX:QAN) has made a number of management changes at its low-cost carrier Jetstar, as it prepares to expand into Asia.

Among those changes – Jetstar CEO Bruce Buchanan has had his title changed to group CEO and will continue to oversee the Jetstar brands, with a focus on driving expansion in new markets.

Current Qantas group executive of corporate services and technology, David Hall, will move to Jetstar as the new CEO of Australia and New Zealand.

Chief executive officer of Jetstar Asia, Chong Phit Lian, will have her role expanded to include further responsibilities in the region.

Qantas chief executive officer, Alan Joyce, says the changes will ensure the company is positioned to expand into new markets throughout Asia.

Qantas Airways reported a $117 million net profit in 2009.
