George Jones to Chair Gindalbie Metals

Company News

Iron ore miner Gindalbie Metals Ltd (ASX:GBG) has announced the appointment of George Jones as non-executive Chairman, effective immediately.

Mr Jones replaces Geoff Wedlock who was one of passengers who perished in the fatal air crash in West Africa last week.

Illness forced Mr Jones, who has been a director of the company since September 2005, to relinquish his role as Chairman of the company in August last year.

Today he says he is in the best health he has been in for about seven years and is looking forward, once again, to leading Gindalbie as it enters this extremely positive phase of development.

Mr Jones says the company is in a very strong position having just recently completed a $206.4 million capital raising.

The funds raised, he says, will give the company the firepower to successfully complete the development of the Karara Iron Ore project so it can be in production next year.

For the 12 months to June 30, 2009 Gindalbie Metals reported profit of $26.22 million.
