Webjet Ltd (ASX:WEB) to launch e pricing

Company News

Online travel agent Webjet Ltd (ASX:WEB) is to launch e-pricing for international flights next week.

The company says it will progressively introduce the e-pricing system covering international flights over the next month.

Managing director David Clarke says e-pricing has been developed internationally by Travelport Galileo over the last year or so and has now in conjunction with Galileo, been tailored for online application for Webjet’s Australian online market.

The company says e-pricing means that Webjet’s Australian customers will have deeper access and wider choice on international fares where the customer is able to take advantage of some cheaper fare structures which may require a route with an additional stopover.

Webjet says an example of the savings would be Brisbane to Los Angeles via Auckland where savings may be in the order of $140 or more on a fare of around $1,400.

The online travel agent says all of the duration optimised itinerary will continue to available unchanged so the effect will be a wider choice, and in some cases, additional substantial savings.

Webjet’s fiscal 09 profit dropped slightly from the year before.
