New Boral Ltd (ASX:BLD) chairman starts today

Company News

Building products maker Boral Ltd (ASX:BLD) says Bob Every will assume the role of chairman from today.

Mr Every takes over from Dr Ken Moss who announced in July last year that he would retire in May after 10 years with the company.

Mr Every, is also the chairman of Wesfarmers and was, until earlier this month, the chairman of Iluka Resources.

He joined the Boral board in 2007 and was appointed deputy chair in November 2009.

The appointment of Mr Every follows that of new CEO Mark Selway who took over from Rod Pearse in January this year.

Mr Every will have an up-hill battle as chairman of the company with Boral hit hard by the US housing crisis, posting a 9% fall in half year profit in February, warning that the second half of the year would be worse.

Boral has 10% exposure to the US housing market.

CEO Mark Selway however at the time did say he expects the company to post a full year profit of $123.5 million, in line with market estimates.

Boral reported net profit after tax of $142 million for fiscal 2009.
