Brockman Resources Ltd (ASX:BRM) denies new mining tax will affect relationship with Sinosteel Australia Ltd

Company News

Brockman Resources Ltd (ASX:BRM) has denied media reports that its relationship with Sinosteel Australia Ltd and the development of its flagship Pilbara iron ore project have been affected by the proposed mining tax.

The company has released a statement refuting the claims made in a report by Dow Jones Newswire last week, which says Brockman is continuing to work with Sinosteel on the Marillana Iron Ore Project.

Brockman recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sinosteel for the purchase of a maximum 10 million tonnes per annum of iron ore production over five years.

The project is currently on schedule and the feasibility study is 60% complete.

The company says it strongly opposes the introduction of the Resource Super Profits Tax because it is not in the best interest of Australians in both the short and long term.

But it is open to discussing the issue with state and federal governments.

Brockman Resources reported a loss of $14.75 million for fiscal 2009.
