Iron ore miner Atlas Iron Ltd
(ASX:AGO) says that mining at its Wodgina DSO iron ore project is due to start early next month after the company received final government approval.
The company says it remains on target to commence shipping ore through Utah Point in October 2010 and achieve iron ore exports at a combined rate of 6 million tonnes per annum from its Wodgina and Pardoo iron ore projects in WA by December 2010.
It hopes to ramp production up to 9 million tonnes by the end of 2011 following the planned commissioning of the Abydos project.
The company is mining and exporting from its 100% owned Pardoo iron ore project, shipping over 1 million tonnes in its first year of operation.
Atlas shares took a hit yesterday closing 9.05% lower at $2.11 making it the worst performer in the ASX200.
Atlas booked a $68.14 million loss for the 2009 financial year.
