Project developer and contractor Leighton Holdings Ltd
(ASX:LEI) has won a $150 million contract extension to build the LNG jetty and marine structures on oil giant Chevron’s Gorgon project.
Leighton Contractors, in consortium with Italian engineering firm Saipem, have been chosen to design, fabricate and install pre-assembled racks for the 2.1km jetty.
The extension is in addition to the existing $900 million contract to design, construct and commission the jetty.
The construction of the LNG jetty is scheduled to start early next year on Barrow Island, 70km off the Pilbara coast of Western Australia.
It is expected to be finished by late 2013.
Leighton Holdings reported a profit of $440.04 million for the 2009 financial year.
